Security operatives have rescued seven people abducted on Monday during an attack on Lassa Day Secondary School in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The joint rescue team included the Army, Police, and local Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF.
–How the Attack Unfolded–
Borno State officials said suspected ISWAP terrorists stormed the school around 9:00am while students were sitting for the National Examinations Council, NECO, examination.
According to witnesses, the attackers arrived on motorcycles, fired shots sporadically, and abducted students and women trading within the school premises.
Borno State Police Command spokesperson, Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident.
“Around 9am, ISWAP attacked Lassa Day Secondary School. They shot sporadically. An unspecified number of students have been abducted,” Daso said.
He added that security operatives confronted the terrorists and prevented what could have been a larger abduction.
–Seven Victims Rescued, Search Continues–
Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, confirmed that seven of the abducted persons have been rescued.
“For now, seven of them have been rescued. We cannot confirm their gender yet. Assessment is still ongoing,” Tar said on Monday.
He said the total number of missing students is yet to be confirmed, and efforts are still ongoing to rescue the remaining abductees.
“We have sent a delegation to the community to assess the situation and build confidence in the minds of the residents,” he added.

Security agencies said operations are still ongoing in the area to track and rescue the remaining victims.
