Benue APC raises the alarm over alleged appointments

Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said Governor Samuel Ortom plans to appoint new permanent secretaries and give accelerated promotions to selected cronies in the state civil service.

A statement by the state Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, on Tuesday, in Makurdi, Benue State, faulted the plan.

APC wondered why Ortom would be making appointments at the twilight of his term in office when he should be writing his hand over notes.

The APC scribe alleged that they had information that the “new appointees would be strategically placed in selected ministries to constitute impediments to the incoming administration of Fr. Hyacinth Alia by planting land mines and pitfalls to slow his takeoff.”

The APC advised those whose names had been pencilled down for such appointments, promotions and placements to reject the offers.

The statement read in part: “Those who refuse to heed to this warning and take up such appointments will be treated as saboteurs and enemies of Benue people by the incoming administration of Alia.”
