Bayelsa United Chairman, Dr Tarilaye Nwankwe has praised the players and coaching staff members for their determination in securing a goalless result against former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Kano Pillars in their Matchday 12 fixture on Sunday.
The encounter, played at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, earned the visitors a valuable away point and boosted their prospects in the ongoing season.
Speaking immediately after the match, Dr Nwankwe highlighted the result’s positive impact on fans back home.
“The point secured away has brought smiles to the faces of the supporters who were following the game at home,” he said.
He described the team’s displays in their last two outings as evidence of strong spirit and commitment, adding that such performances would shape a successful campaign.
“Their sterling outing so far in the season will go a long way to define our season,” Dr Nwankwe noted.
The chairman urged the squad not to relent until they achieved their seasonal objectives, emphasising their impressive away form. “Their performance away from home this season has shown that Bayelsa United can beat any team.”
Dr. Nwankwe also commended the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr Daniel Igali, who accompanied the team to Katsina for his ongoing support in helping the club deliver results.
He further expressed gratitude to the state government for providing air travel for long-distance trips, which he said has been crucial to the team’s preparedness.
“I was very pleased with the way our players performed away from home, and I think if we can keep this spirit going as the league progresses, we should be in a very respectable position in the league.”
