The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a 47-year-old cripple, Okpara Balami, and five others in connection with an alleged attack on a community vigilance group member in Kolo community, Ogbia Local Government Area.
According to reports, the cripple allegedly led an armed gang of youths in the community and has been suspected of involvement in terrorism, cult-related violence, and multiple attacks against residents and police personnel.
The armed gang has also been linked to several attacks against the Kolo Police Station.
The police operation was carried out by a combined team of operatives from the Rapid Response Team (RRT) and Anti-Cultism team, led by CSP Bishop Elemide and CSP Nsimo Benson.
The team was supported by drone components, which provided aerial support during the arrest.

During the operation, the police recovered a pistol and several dangerous machetes from the suspects’ hideout.
However, one of the suspects managed to escape.
Confirming the incident, a member of the Kolo Community Vigilante, who pleaded anonymity, welcomed the arrest, describing it as long overdue due to the gang’s involvement in cultism, assault, and attacks on police personnel.
When Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, stated that he is yet to be properly briefed on the operation.
