Bandits kidnap Catholic priest, seminarian in Niger State

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Paul Sanogo, and a seminarian, Melchior, in Niger State.

A statement signed by the Bishop of Minna Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Martins Igwe Uzoukwu, said the victims were abducted in the early hours of Thursday, August 3, at the priest’s residence at Gyedna Community, in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

He called for prayers for the safe release of the priest and the seminarian.

“On behalf of my Auxiliary, Most Rev. Sylvester Luka Gopep, the Priests and the Religious of the Catholic Diocese of Minna, I request your prayers for Sanogo and Melchior.

“We pray the Lord hears our prayers and brings them back in peace,” he said, adding that the victims were pastoral workers at St Luke’s Catholic in Gyedna Community.
