The newly elected Balogun Oranmiyan, Chief Kolawole Woleola Odeyele has called on Nigerians to promote culture and tradition in every part of the country.
Chief Odeyele, who made this call while fielding questions from our correspondent shortly after his official installation as the Balogun of Oranmiyan by Oba Isoro, Olaoluwa Omiwenu Odeyele, Owa Eredunmi, Ile-Ife in Osun State said that cultural heritage of the people should be promoted through various traditional festivals that abound in their respective localities.
Chief Odeyele urged Yoruba people to embrace their cultural heritage, irrespective of their religion beliefs.
The Balogun Oranmiyan, who commended the famous and highly respected Ooni of Ile-Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, for sustaining the rich cultural heritage of Yoruba people, said the traditional ruler has transformed the ancient Ile-Ife community as well as Yoruba land traditionally and culturally.
According to Balogun Oranmiyan, “the Ooni Ogunwusi is an embodiment of knowledge, who has been good ambassador of the Yoruba culture across the globe.
“His support and contribution toward the development of Ile-Ife and Yoruba land at large cannot be over emphasised.
“I want to charge other traditional rulers, as custodians of culture and traditions in Yorubaland, to emulate the Ooni Ogunwusi and support him completely to do more in the promotion of culture and tradition of their people”.
The Balogun Oranmiyan, who appreciated all the invited guests that honoured him during his installation, said he would continue to use his new position to promote culture and tradition in all ramifications.
Meanwhile, the Oba Isoro, Olaoluwa Omiwenu Odeyele, Owa Eredunmi, Ile Ife, while speaking at the installation ceremony congratulated the new Balogun Oranmiyan.
According to Oba Isoro, “everything you have done and accomplished has led to this point and you truly deserve it. You have worked so hard on yourself and created the necessary advantage to convince others of your potential and abilities; it all paid off in the end.
“I wish you the best of luck in your new post. I have no doubt that you will excel in this role and make everyone proud. I look forward to even more success news about you, which you are very much capable of.
“I pray that your new appointment be a source of your endless success. I beseech the Eledumare to continue to uplift you beyond expectations. Congratulations once again”.
