Ayakoro community celebrates 67th annual festival in grand style as Okpebholo, Agadaga commend NDDC MD, Ogbuku

The peaceful community of Ayakoro in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State recently celebrated its 2025 Annual Festival, also known as “Eyal Obeyin,” in a grand manner.

The festival, which symbolises the resilience and determination of the community’s ancestors, was attended by clan members, neighbouring communities, representatives of the Ijaw National Congress, and other dignitaries.

Governor Okpebholo of Edo State, who chaired the occasion, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of the Renewed Hope agenda.

He acknowledged the development strides in the Niger Delta region and emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

Chief Benson Agadaga, Senator representing Bayelsa East, called on international oil companies to stop gas flaring, citing its negative effects on houses and the environment.

He commended the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for the various infrastructure developments in the Niger Delta region.

Dr. Ogbuku, who is also the deputy paramount ruler of Ayakoro Community, expressed appreciation for the community’s commitment to sustaining their cultural heritage.

He emphasized the importance of cultural heritage in strengthening communal ties and fostering a sense of identity.

The festival featured traditional dance performances, masquerade performances, and cultural exhibitions, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Ayakoro community.
