Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has mourned former President Muhammadu Buhari who died in a London hospital on Sunday, July 13, 2025
In a statement, Atiku described Buhari as “a man whose life was defined by unflinching patriotism, stoic discipline, and a lifelong commitment to the sovereignty and unity of our great nation.”
Atiku noted that President Buhari was not just a former Head of State but a symbol of Nigeria’s resilience.
According to him, “He served with austere conviction and a firm belief in duty, marking him as a soldier of principle and a leader of formidable will.”
Atiku described Buhari’s death as a profound national tragedy, saying Nigeria had lost a statesman who bore the burdens of leadership in both turbulent and triumphant times.
The former vice president extended his deepest condolences to Buhari’s family, praying for strength and comfort in this time of grief.
He also mourned with the people of Katsina State and the entire nation, urging them to take solace in the knowledge that Buhari gave his life to the service of Nigeria and never wavered in his belief in the country’s promise.
Atiku prayed that Allah, the Most Merciful, would forgive Buhari’s shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus.
