It was unprecedented, the mammoth crowd that thronged the towns of Jimeta and Yola to welcome home Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa after picking the presidential ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Federal Airports Authority, FAN, could not stop the surge of people to the tarmac as we arrived Yola airport. Driving out of the airport was more than at snail speed. The drive to Lamido Adamawa’s Palace from the Yola Airport, a distance of about five kilometres, had a sea of heads on both sides of the road in frenzied jubilation to welcome home their son. The PDP flag waving crowd on both sides of Yola and Jimeta roads was reminiscent of flag waving citizens of countries on attainment of independence.
Gaining entrance into Lamido of Adamawa’s Palace proved an uphill task for security men in holding back the cheering and cheerful crowd. The Lamido of Adamawa, in the presence of all the District Heads, prayed for, and blessed Atiku Abubakar in his presidential bid journey.
From the Palace of the Lamido of Adamawa, we moved to Ribadu Square, where people of all tribes and religion resident in Yola trooped out for the reception with songs and dances in praise to God Almighty for the gift of their son and benefactor, ordained by God, to lift Nigeria out of her declining economic and social existence.
From Ribadu Square to Atiku Abubakar’s private residence was yet another arduous drive as people thronged the roads in jubilation. At his residence, Atiku Abubakar received in audience, PDP stakeholders, including PDP Women Leaders from the North East Zone. He also received Taraba PDP caucus and PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections. They all vowed commitment to deliver votes for Wazirin’s emergence as the next president of Nigeria, as his God’s ordained time has come.
The speech from Governor Finitiri of Adamawa State at the State banquet later in the night, left nobody in doubt of Atiku Abubakar’s contributions to the welfare of his State and his people.
If what I saw yesterday, is a snippet of what is yet to come, it will end up in praises to God, for a resounding victory.
The people showed love and appreciation for a man whose investments in his home State, ranging from a complex school (kindergarten to university), agriculture, to production industries, have thousands of people in gainful employment and assured food on many family tables. It is my prayer that God in His infinite mercy, will grant Atiku Abubakar election victory in the 2023 presidential election.
