Aregbesola’s APC faction denies defecting to PDP

The faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, loyal to the former governor and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has debunked the allegation making the rounds that its members are planning to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to the Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Sola Agboola, while reacting to the allegation: “Sequel to our earlier press release on the outcome of our stakeholders meeting held recently, we wish to Restate our earlier positions of our commitments to our party the All progressives Congress.

“We wish to restate emphatically that we are still bona fide members of the APC and remain committed to the ideals of progressives the party stands for despite all attempts to frustrate and push us out of the party by the Governor Oyetola led ileri Oluwa group within the APC.

“We have challenged the eligibility of the Governor Oyetola as the candidate of the party in the forthcoming general election, which is presently before a Federal high court in Abuja and we shall prosecute it to a logical conclusion. Impunity will not be allowed to thrive within the party.

“On this note, we implore you to kindly DISREGARD any rumors making the round about our tendency defecting to any other party. This is handiwork of retrogressive elements that are bent on creating confusion and if possible push us out of the party. To this, we say categorically, they have failed.”

Meanwhile, the crisis between Aregbesola and his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has been heightened recently with the total neglect of members of the factional group in the congresses of the party.

The emergence of Senator Iyiola Omisore as National Secretary of APC was also rejected by the factional group who accused the party of promoting the “killer of Chief Bola Ige.”
