Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the ruling of Supreme Court on Wednesday which halted, temporarily, the date for end of old naira notes.

The Anambra APC said the apex court ruling was of great relief to the general public.

The party said it rejoiced with the peoples of Nigeria on the historical judicial relief granted by the Supreme Court to mitigate the suffering arising from scarcity of new naira notes.

“We salute the courage of governors and governments of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara States, whose timely activation of the judicial process has pulled Nigeria back from the cliff.

“Nigerians will not fail to remember Their Excellencies, Nasiru El-Rufai, Yahaya Bello and Matawale, respectively as leaders and friends in acute need.

“We are very proud of them, having by their principled position and commensurate action justified our confidence in them as good APC products.

“We express our reservation on the planning and execution of the Naira Swap an otherwise noble and rewarding program, by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

“It is our hope that the intervening time will serve to fine-tune the program to shield every Nigerian from undeserved suffering,” the party said in a statement signed by Okelo Madukaife, the State Publicity Secretary.

The party urged Nigerians to resist the temptation to be lured out to needless demonstrations or any form of tension by enemies of progress and enemies of democracy, acting in league.

“It is our take in specific terms that political parties contending to take oversee the national affairs of Nigerians in this month’s elections, should neither instigate, nor induce other political parties to pursue anti-people court injunctions of anomie.

“On the contrary we urge patience and cooperation with the CBN and commercial banks, who must eschew hoarding for profiteering to see the Naira exercise and the election through,” it stressed.

The party in the statement said it believed the assurances given by its presidential candidate and God-willing president from May 29, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would be the last time Nigeria will go through this level of suffering over currency and petroleum products.
