Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, George Akume has expressed appreciation to the President Muhammadu Buhari, over the appointment of the paramount ruler of the Tiv Nation, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh, Professor James Ortese Ayatse,Tor Tiv the 5th as the Chancellor University of Benin, Edo State.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs Dr. Aondona Mkor, Akume stated that the choice of His Royal Majesty, Professor Ayatse by President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Chancellor of one of the pioneer universities in Nigeria is a clear demonstration of the honour and confidence reposed in the ability and status of the Tor Tiv and the Tiv Nation at large by Mr. President.
The minister further congratulated His Royal Majesty on his welll deserved appointment as the Chancellor of University of Benin.
Akume noted that as a former university administrator and Vice Chancellor of different great universities in Nigeria,with vast experience and sterling records of achievements in university management and administration, Professor Ayatse’s appointment will indeed go a long way in further shaping appropriate directions towards the attainment of the goals and objectives of the University of Benin.
“On behalf of his family, friends, colleagues, associates and the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, the Honourable Minister prayed God to guide and protect His Royal Majesty, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse in his newest responsibility and service to the country,” he said.
