Senate President Godswill Akpabio has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s “bold reforms and strategic leadership” as the administration marks three years in office, saying the Renewed Hope Agenda has laid a foundation for Nigeria’s growth and greatness.
In a congratulatory message signed personally by him on Thursday, May 29, 2026, Akpabio praised Tinubu for taking “difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest” despite global economic headwinds.
“The courage to remove fuel subsidy, unify exchange rates, and drive infrastructure despite global headwinds shows a President committed to long-term prosperity over short-term comfort,” the Senate President said.
Akpabio highlighted several flagship projects of the administration that he said are “repositioning Nigeria”.
They include: the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to open up coastal trade and connectivity; the Nigerian Student Loan Scheme to expand tertiary education access; the Renewed Hope Housing Programme for affordable homes nationwide; the nationwide rollout of Compressed Natural Gas buses and conversion centres to ease transport costs; ongoing tax reforms to broaden the tax base and reduce burden on low-income earners; and the completion of the OB3 pipeline delivering 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas daily into the national grid.
He said that the 10th Senate will remain a “committed partner” in enacting laws to sustain the gains and secure Nigeria’s future.
“Mr President, your courage to take difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest is already yielding results Nigerians can see and feel,” Akpabio stated. “The 10th Senate remains a committed partner in enacting laws that will sustain these gains and secure the future we all desire.”
The Senate President prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Tinubu, and wished him “a successful completion of your tenure and resounding victory in the forthcoming elections”.
Tinubu’s 3rd anniversary comes amid ongoing debates on the impact of subsidy removal, FX unification, and inflation on households. The Senate’s endorsement signals legislative backing for the administration’s second-half agenda ahead of 2027.
