Again, CoAS charges troops to exhibit professionalism, discipline

The Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, on Sunday, 11 September 2021, charged troops of Headquarters 63 Brigade Nigerian Army Asaba to always exhibit professionalism, discipline and gallantry in the discharge of their military activities within their Area of Responsibility (AoR).

The CoAS stated this while addressing troops of HQ 63 Brigade at the Temporary Complex Located at Anwai Road Asaba, Delta State, during his visit to the Brigade AoR.

During the visit, the CoAS was received at the Quarter-guard by the Commander 63 Brigade Garrison Lieutenant Colonel IR Adom while the CoAS was equally briefed on operational activities at the Commander’s Conference room by the Commander 63 Brigade Brig General Abdulrahman Idris and subsequently, taken round on inspection of ongoing projects executed by the commander within the Brigade.

In his address the CoAS urged the Brigade troops to be disciplined and be dedicated in their place of duties.

He noted challenges being faced by the Brigade and he promised to support the Brigade on its ongoing construction projects and also on issue of manpower.

He, therefore, charged the Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) to lead by good example and to conduct themselves in a professional manner so that their subordinates could imitate them.

Similarly, the CoAS charged the officers to be supportive and assist the Commander in achieving his aims.

He added that if the command failed, he won’t blame the commander rather he would have the officers to blame for failures resulting from troops under command.

He urged officers to continuously monitor and have total control of their subordinates in ensuring that their subordinates exhibit good conduct at every point in time and also not to be surprised or caught unawares by enemy forces.

The CoAS, however, lauded the troops for their perseverance and will, in fighting the insecurity bedeviling the state.

He enjoined all to continue to be vigilant and avoid visiting unnecessary places without due authorization.

He stressed that superior officers at all levels were to ensure they related with their subordinates in finding out their wellbeing and also to reward those who displayed good conduct accordingly.

He stressed that they should not hesitate to punish those who portrayed the Army in bad light.

The visit had in attendance the Chief Host GOC 6 Div NA/LCC OPDS, Maj. General SG Mohammend, Commander 63 Brigade Brig General A. Idris, the Chief of Staff to CoAS, Brig Gen AM Umar with other members of the COAS entourage.

The visit of the CoAS to the Brigade Headquarters was hitch-free while the CoAS and his entourage were led by the Commander 63 Brigade to 181 Amphibious Battalion Agbor for continuation of the CoAS’ operational visit to own AoR.
