The management of Abuja Municipal Area Council has honoured a prominent Edo son, Dr Tony Aiyejina with a street being named after him in Abuja municipality.
Dr Aiyejina is a federal commissioner representing Edo State in Natiknal Population Commsion (NPC). He is from Akoko-Edo area of Edo state.
The Area Council, in a letter dated 21st March, 2023, jointly signed by the Director of Operations, Peter Ijwo and Admin Officer, Dirijo Dahni, and addressesd to Dr Aiyejina, said “Street naming within Abuja Municipality is done strictly with due diligence. It is intended to acknowledge the good works of eminent Nigerians towards national growth and unity.
“We are pleased to inform you that you have been unanimously endorsed among eminent Nigerians, Leaders and Public Servants for the district honour of being immortalized, by naming a street, in your name, within the Abuja Municipality, Federal Capital Teritory.”
The letter further stated that “your nomination was purely based on personal merit, hence, in recognition of your outstanding contributions and commitment to the society and the national economy.”
The municipality hinted that such recognition would spur others to work for the people and Nigeria.
