Four Julius Berger Labourers on Tuesday appeared in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, over alleged conspiracy and stealing of 86 pieces of PVC pipes.
They are George Edo, 47, Udeoba Izuchukwu, 31, Lucky Moses, 45, and Oladele Dara,32, all of Julius Berger plc, Abuja.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against them.
The Prosecutor, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that one Iloh Richard of D7, Julius Berger main Yard, Utako, Abuja reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station on June 14.
Nwachukwu alleged that the defendants on same date conspired and made away with 86 pieces of PVC pipes, value yet unknown, from the Berger yard.
She alleged that the defendants were caught while trying to move the stolen pipes from the Berger yard at Life Camp Abuja and handed over to the police for proper investigation.
She also alleged that the stolen items were recovered from the defendants and during police investigations they could not give a satisfactory account of their actions.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provision of Section 97 and 289 of the panel code.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 each with a surety each in like sum.
Jobbo ordered that the sureties must have reliable means of identification and reside within the court jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 31, for hearing.
