● DSP Jimoh: Incident occurred in Oda Community after altercation on May 28

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly killing his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, in Akure.

Command spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Jimoh said the incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South LGA. Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation on May 28 which escalated into physical assault.

“During the confrontation, the deceased sustained severe injuries, particularly on the head. He was immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention,” Jimoh stated.

The spokesperson added that despite efforts by medical personnel, the attending doctor confirmed the victim dead while receiving treatment.

Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, detectives commenced investigation. “Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.”

Jimoh said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation.

The police spokesman said the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
