2nd Wave: NCDC confirms 1,041 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Thursday, announced 1,041 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-316, FCT-210, Kaduna-83, Plateau-70, Gombe-56, Oyo-56, Katsina-47, Nasarawa-35, Kano-33, Ogun-21, Rivers-17, Niger-14, Imo-14, Delta-12, Kwara-12, Edo-12, Benue-9, Anambra-8, Taraba-4, Ekiti-4, Ebonyi-6, Bayelsa-1 and Sokoto-1.

The agency said six deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,236 on Wednesday to 1,242 on Thursday.

The data from the agency disclosed that 377 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 69,651 while 11,070 cases were still active in the country.

NCDC explained that the discharges on Thursday included 128 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

Total confirmed cases in Nigeria – 81,963.
Total discharged cases – 69,651.
Total deaths – 1,242.
