Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are set to quit the African Democratic Congress on Monday, according to NNPP Board of Trustees Secretary Buba Galadima.
Galadima dropped the hint Saturday at a stakeholders’ meeting of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement in Abuja, calling it part of a “broader political realignment” before 2027.
Galadima didn’t name the new platform. But sources close to both camps say Obi and Kwankwaso are finalising a move to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, a new party linked to ex-Bayelsa Gov Seriake Dickson.
“Both Obi and Kwankwaso, along with their supporters, are set to complete the process and formally announce their defection on Monday,” one source said. The switch, sources added, follows “internal challenges” inside the ADC.
Galadima told supporters to expect “coordinated media and social media attacks” after the announcement.

He claimed opposition figures are under pressure from state institutions and party crises that have weakened the SDP, PDP, ADC, NDP and PRP.
Isaac Fayose, brother of ex-Ekiti Gov Ayodele Fayose, backed an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as a “viable political alternative” for 2027.
Activist Aisha Yesufu urged Nigerians to drop “ethnic and regional divisions” and push for collective progress.
If Monday’s announcement lands, it reshapes the opposition field.
The NDC would instantly become a major platform, with two of Nigeria’s most visible opposition leaders on board.
