Former Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya, has dropped his senatorial ambition and picked the Peoples Democratic Party nomination form to contest the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency seat in 2027.
Adekoya said the decision followed consultations with Ogun PDP leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women’s groups, and other stakeholders across the three local government areas. He said constituents asked him to return to the House of Representatives, where he believes he can deliver more direct and immediate impact.
He represented the constituency from 2015 to 2023 and cited his record of sponsoring bills, rehabilitating roads, schools and bridges, and running empowerment programmes for youths, market women and the aged.
Ongoing projects linked to his tenure include the Vintage Orimolusi Palace in Ijebu-Igbo, Ago-Iwoye City Stadium, Imusin-Ajina Shopping Centre, an annex of the Federal Medical Centre for infertility and maternity care in Ako, and the Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu Skill Acquisition Centre in Atikori.

“I have listened to my people. I chose to drop the senatorial ambition because the House of Representatives is where I can serve you directly and deliver the most immediate results for Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside,” Adekoya said.
He added that he intends to complete existing projects and expand development across the constituency.
