Former journalist and media strategist Enyinnaya Appolos has emerged as the PDP candidate for Obingwa West State Constituency ahead of the 2027 Abia State House of Assembly election.
Speaking after his emergence, Appolos said he is entering the race fully prepared and will not underrate any opponent or take the party’s confidence for granted.
“I will not underrate my opponents or their political parties. I came prepared for this assignment, and I will meet them in the field,” he said.
Appolos, who worked as Political Correspondent for _The Nation_ and _Nigerian Compass_ newspapers, said he understands the weight of the assignment and is approaching it with determination, strategy, and loyalty to the PDP.
He stressed that politics is won through preparation, hard work, and direct engagement with voters, dismissing any notion of complacency.
The former Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to ex-Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said securing the ticket is not a victory in itself, but a call to greater responsibility. He added that the trust shown by party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters would only push him to work harder for both the party and the people.
For Appolos, the goal goes beyond winning an election. “The mission ahead is not merely about winning an election but about offering purposeful representation and sustaining the political values of the PDP in Obingwa West,” he said.
He pledged to remain loyal to the PDP and committed to its ideals as campaigns begin to take shape.
