Rotimi Amaechi: in quest for APC's presidential ticket.

By Sylvanus Isa

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has resigned his cabinet position to finally set the stage for his gritty battle for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Confident that he looks good to pocket the ticket and become APC’s presidential standard bearer, Amaechi had declared on Sunday in Kaduna during his delegates hunt that he would turn in his resignation on Monday, May 16, 2022.

THE CONCLAVE reports that the well-prepared Amaechi who had already built a formidable group, nationwide political structure and network, has turned in his resignation to President Muhammadu Buhari through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha.

Amaechi has thus crossed the rubicorn in the matter of contestation for the APC presidential ticket.

Feelers reaching THE CONCLAVE indicated that Amaechi is one of the few highly favoured by the Presidency for consideration for the APC ticket.

Besides, he had on his own dug very deep in the states in search of consequential support of delegates who will determine the aspirants’ fates at the presidential primary election in Abuja.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) seeking elective positions to resign their appointment and focus on their ambitions latest Monday, May16, 2022.

While some ministers who initially declared interest in elective offices developed cool feet subsequently and withdrew from the race so as to keep their positions in Buhari’s cabinet, Amaechi has pressed on with his audacious presidential enterprise.

He had, in Kaduna, on Sunday expressed appreciation to Buhari for the opportunity to serve as Minister.

The minister, while discussing with the delegates, had disclosed that the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train would not have happened if the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved the surveillance contract he requested to monitor the rail track.

He is expected to take his presidential pitch a notch up in the few days ahead of the presidential primary election, selling his vision to the delegates and intimating them with his mission.
