2023 elections: Presidency asks Emefiele, others to resign in a clarifying circular

The Presidency has directed the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele and other public office holders who have expressed interest to seek elective positions and procured nomination forms to resign.

They have been given up to Monday, May 16, 2022 latest, to turn in their resignation letter.

The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr Boss Mustapha, dated May 11, 2022.

The governor of the CBN is number 16 in the list of heads of public institutions to which the SGF directed the circular, which clarified the directive handed down to ministers seeking elective positions at the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
