Abia North Peace Foundation, ANPF, has commended Nigerians especially Northern Nigerian youths for throwing their weight behind the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
Senator Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, was recently endorsed by different Arewa groups, urging him to join the 2023 presidential race.
ANPF, in a statement signed by Hon. Gabriel Idika Ukairo, Deputy National Coordinator, on Wednesday, in Abuja appreciated the synergy among the various zones in ensuring that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu emerges Nigeria’s next President.
According to Ukairo, Senator Kalu had yet to officially declare his intention to run for President, but the enthusiasm among Nigerians about his capacity to deliver should be commended.
He stated that if Senator Kalu was chosen as the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, the group would mobilise Abia people home and abroad to deliver 1. 8 million votes for the party.
“We have about 1.8m voters already; we are currently educating and mobilising our people on the need to be registered and get their voter’s card. We shall deliver not less than 1.8 million votes for the APC in 2023 if our leader and Senator, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu is nominated as the candidate of the APC in 2023 presidential election.
“You can see the endorsements across board that Senator Kalu is loved by all. Kalu is loved by Nigerian, and his capacity and ability to deliver is not in doubt. Senator Kalu is a hero who fought third term agenda to a stand still. He has paid his dues and should be supported by well meaning Nigerians to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
“We commend Arewa youths and other Nigerians who are sincerely pushing for a President of South-East extraction; we commend them for recognizing Senator Kalu as the man to deliver.”
Ukoiro further appealed to Nigerians to support the Igbos in 2023 by unanimously zoning the presidency to the South-East in 2023.
He called for a legislation of the zoning arrangement to unite the nation.
“It is our view that the presidency should now be zoned to the South-East and zoning of the presidency should now be enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Implementation of the federal character principle in all other political positions at the national level and in all appointments and employment would then further give every Nigerian a sense of belonging in the Nigerian project,” he said.
