A 13-year-old schoolboy from south London has reportedly become the UK’s youngest person to die after testing positive for Covid-19.
Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, from Brixton, died at Kings College Hospital yesterday morning after being put into an induced coma, according to the Mirror.
His devastated family said the young teenager had no underlying health conditions. The Mohamed family said: ‘Ismail started showing symptoms and had difficulties breathing and was admitted to Kings College Hospital.

He was put on a ventilator and then put into an induced coma but sadly died yesterday morning. To our knowledge he had no underlying health conditions. We are beyond devastated.’
The director of Madinah College, where Ismail’s sister works, said the young boy tested positive for the virus before he died.
Fundraiser Mark Stephenson said: ‘Ismail was tested positive for Covid-19. They have not released the body yet, as the coroner wants to do an autopsy – I’m assuming due to his young age and not having underlying conditions.
