Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has returned to the state capital, Maiduguri from a three-week annual leave.
The governor while away transmitted power to his deputy, Alhaji Usman Kadafur, who was in charge as the acting governor in line with the constitution.
Greater parts of the governor’s official leave were spent on lesser Hajj in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia where he busied himself praying for return of peace to his troubled state, which has been attacked severally by Boko Haram for 12 years now.
The governor, who arrived in in Maiduguri through the International Airport in the town, was received by jubilating thousands of people who lined up the highway from the airport to the Government House.
As his convoy moved through the road, he was greeted with the chant of “Baba Ayoyo’! literally meaning beloved father welcome back.
Most of those in the crowd, included students, women as well as members of associations and unions groups, civil servants and politicians.
The governor, who later addressed the crowd, commended them for their love, supports and sacrifice.
He said he prayed that Almighty Allah would answer all the prayers of the people for peace, unity and progress of Nigerians.
