In preparation for the festive season, the Nigeria Police Force has intensified security operations nationwide, arresting 128 suspects in connection with various crimes and foiling a car theft attempt.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said these measures, directed by Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aim to curb criminal activities and ensure public safety during the holidays.
In Lagos State, police operatives conducted multiple raids on December 14, 2024, targeting criminal hideouts in the Isolo area.
The operations led to the arrest of 43 suspects and the recovery of weapons, cannabis, and fetish items. On December 15, operatives apprehended Charles Orji, who attempted to steal a Toyota Hilux in Isheri Osun. A search revealed seven Toyota car keys in his possession.
Similar security efforts are ongoing across states such as Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Edo, Delta, Benue, and Niger.
The police have ramped up patrols and executed coordinated raids in these regions to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety.
