Youth development: Apetumodu calls for residents’ support

The Apetumodu of Ipetumodu in Ife North local government area of Osun State, Oba (Prof) Joseph Olufunminiyi Olugbenga Oloyede Latimogun 1, has called on the Ipetumodu Development Forum (IDF) and Gbobaniyi Group of the ancient community to join hands with him in his efforts to invest in youths for the advancement of the future, turning Ipetumodu to a cultural icon, and the completion of the palace construction project.

The Apetumodu made this call on Saturday while addressing mammoth crowd at the celebration of the annual Ipetumodu Day.

Oba Oloyede, who honoured the Almighty God for giving him the opportunity to witness his first Ipetumodu Day celebration since he ascended the throne, said government should not be allowed to do everything as individuals, groups and associations must extend their hands of fellowship to the development of their various communities.

The Apetumodu who was highly elated at the colourful and well attended programme commended the entire sons and daughters of Ipetumodu community, home and abroad who have helped in turning around the fortunes of the town.

In his speech at the occasion, the Ipetumodu Development Forum, Vice Chairman, Banji Akinloye, who coordinated members during the event congratulated the Apetumodu, the traditional Chiefs, and entire residents for the success of the annual Ipetumodu Day.

Akinloye, however reiterated the efforts of the IDF in transforming the ancient community, saying “We should not relent.”

Similarly, the Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr Babatunde Oyatokun in his welcome speech appreciated everyone for creating time to witness the occasion while appealing to the guest to make generous donation towards the development of the town.

Meanwhile, ACOLAK proposed Microfinance Bank was unveiled at the event where interested shareholders were invited to be part of the investment of #1.25k per share.

Some cultural groups added colour to the event while substantive millions of naira was realised for the proposed ultral modern palace.

People from far and near at the ceremony included the representative of the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, traditional rulers from in and outside Origbo communities, members of the state House of Assembly, Gen. Alani Akinrinade (retd), the chairman of the occasion, Prof Adesola Aderounmu, the Chief Launcher, Chief (Dr) Emmanuel Odegbami, who was represented by Elder Johnson Akinniyi, Chairman Leisure Spring Hotel, Osogbo, among other dignitaries.
