There was confusion in Owode-Ede, Ede North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Osun State as Hausa selling pepper and Yoruba youths clashed in the early hours of Tuesday .
The Conclave reports that the clash occurred at the popular Owode weekly market.
According to eyewitness, who informed our correspondent, the crisis began when an Hausa pepper sellers, who was said to have allegedly blocked the entrance of a house located at the market place, was instructed to vacate the place.
It was gathered that the Hausa pepper sellers allegedly blocked the frontage of the building barring the occupants of the house to gain access into the house.
It was further gathered that the refusal of the Hausa man provoked the house owner who in return forcefully removed the wares to create access road to his house.
The action of the house owner did not go down well with the Hausa trader who resorted into violent approach and allegedly broke the landlord’s car mirror.
Speaking with our correspondent, a resident of the area alleged that it had become the usual attitude of the Hausa traders to display their wares on an unauthorized place.
She said: “Some displayed their wares in front of somebody’s stalls, while others had just spread them out on the pavement”
As at the time of filling this report, the Hausa traders have been taken to the palace of Olu of Owode as those that sustained injury have been taken to hospital.
