The Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, Prof. Mala Mohammed Daura, has appealed for adequate water supply to the University.
He made the appeal to the Yobe State Government through the Ministry of Water Resources to provide adequate water during a Courtesy call on the Commissioner of Water Resources, Sen. Alkali Jajere.
He explained to the commissioner that the essence of his visit was to cement the existing cordial relationship between the university and the ministry.
Daura urged the ministry to always liaise with the University in training technical staff members and to continue accepting its students for Students Industrial Works Experience Scheme (SIWES) more especially from the Departments of Agriculture, Geography, and other related courses to the ministry so that the students would have proper practical knowledge before their graduations.
In his response, the Commissioner of Water Resources assured the university of the ministry’s total support, stressing that the university was part of their catchment area and already there was a plan on ground under the ‘Damaturu Water Project’ and the University is among the beneficiaries.
He said: “I will like to assure you that, my ministry will do anything possible to assist the university in order to achieve anything it wants to achieve for the benefit of the state.”
