Yilwatda: Don’t derail Tinubu’s plan to make North a West Africa economic hub
Professor Nentawe Yilwatda

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda says President Tinubu’s “deliberate” investments will turn Northern Nigeria into a regional economic powerhouse, but warned “self-serving politicians” not to derail the agenda.

In a statement by his media aide Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said ongoing projects in roads, rail, energy, agric and education show a “clear commitment” to position the North as a hub for productivity and trade with Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Benin.

“The vision goes beyond politics. Within this administration, the North will emerge as a strong economic powerhouse,” Yilwatda said.

He flagged rail links to ports, power for industrial clusters, irrigation schemes, and NELFUND as key to unlocking the region’s potential.

“With NELFUND, the children of the North now have a clear pathway to tertiary education, regardless of background,” he said.

Yilwatda urged traditional rulers, youth groups, and business leaders to back Tinubu’s plan.

“This is a defining moment. We must not allow narrow personal interests to truncate a historic opportunity,” he said.

He called Tinubu “a dogged fighter for democracy” and dismissed opposition parties as unreliable.

“They cannot organize their own parties, yet they aspire to lead Nigeria. Entrusting them with power would risk taking the country several years backward,” he said.
