Members of the YES Initiative (Yewa-Awori Engagement Strategy Initiative) a socio-political advocacy group focused on strategic engagement, leadership development, and inclusive political participation within Ogun State, have formally thrown their weight behind Olamilekan Solomon Adeola for the 2027 Ogun State governorship, urging the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and key stakeholders across the state to rally around behind him as the most prepared and unifying choice.
The position was made known at a strategic meeting of the group held in Ogun West, attended by community leaders, professionals, youth representatives, and party stakeholders from across the Yewa-Awori axis.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the leader of the initiative, Chief Segun Ogundele, said the decision to support Senator Adeola followed extensive consultations, assessment of credentials, and a careful review of the leadership needs of Ogun State at this point in its political evolution.
“This is not about sentiment or zoning alone,” Ogundele said. “It is about preparedness, experience, loyalty to party structure, and the capacity to govern Ogun State effectively from day one.”
According to the group, Senator Adeola’s record as a legislator and administrator places him in a unique position among those aspiring to lead the state.
They cited his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, describing it as evidence of his deep understanding of governance, public finance, and institutional leadership.
Members of the initiative noted that Ogun State required a governor with a disciplined mind, financial expertise, and the political maturity to balance competing interests without destabilising the system.
“Ogun State will be better in his hands,” Ogundele stated.
“He has shown capacity at the national level, and that experience is what the state needs now,” the group stated.
The group also described Senator Adeola as a bridge-builder across Ogun West, Central, and East, stressing that his acceptance cuts across political, ethnic, and generational lines.
While acknowledging his roots as a son of Yewa-Awori land, the group said his politics had consistently reflected inclusiveness and respect for the diversity of Ogun State.
“His background represents balance, not exclusion,” one member noted.
“His competence serves all of Ogun, not one section,” he stated.
YES Initiative used the occasion to appeal directly to APC leaders and stakeholders in Ogun State to consider competence, loyalty, and capacity above all other considerations in selecting the party’s flagbearer for 2027.
The group emphasised that Senator Adeola’s loyalty to party structure and leadership, coupled with his calm and disciplined approach to politics, makes him a stabilising choice capable of sustaining and improving governance in the state.
