Residents of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, woke up on Sunday, to see many of the structures in the town defaced with the poster of present governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, for President in 2023.
The posters projecting Yahaya Bello to take over from Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 were seen in various parts of Damatutu metropolis, and many strategic locations in the state, including parts of the street leading to the Government House, the big roundabout along Potiskum road.
The posters were also posted on every known structure on Gashua and Gujba roads.
Other areas including the pilgrim commission roundabout, Maiduguri by-pass and House of Assembly road roundabout among others have their fair share of the posters posted on the walls.
Although, Bello is a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the posters did not bear any party logo, the inscription of “Yahaya Bello for President, 2023” was boldly written.
It was gathered that some youths from the 19 northern states had recently gathered in Abuja, requesting Yahaya Bello to contest for the number one seat in the country on the APC ticket.
A chieftain of APC in Yobe state, Goni Gadaka, who spoke to journalists on this development, said good governance was an ideal concept “which is very much important for achieving socio-economic development of a state or nation as well as effective public service delivery.”
He said nowadays grassroots politics had become a major and popular yardstick for measuring the success or otherwise of elected political leaders.
He stated that “charity, the wise people, say begins at home.”
He described Governor Yahaya Bello ascendancy to the helm in Kogi State on the back of a dead politician as miraculous, noting that he had acquitted himself well ever since.
He however called on people of the state to continue giving their support and cooperation to Yahaya Bello’s 2023 Presidential ambition.
