A 47-year-old woman, identified as Mama Asabe, reportedly slumped and died on her farm in the Kigbe community, Yebu ward of Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
A relative of the deceased, Ishaku Baba, said the incident occurred on Saturday around 4.12pm while she was fetching firewood after weeding her farm.
He stated that the deceased, presumed to be hale and hearty, left home to fetch firewood but slumped and died in the process.
According to Baba, Mama Asabe had finished weeding her melon farm and decided to fetch firewood when the incident happened.
One of her daughters, who was with her on the farm, rushed home to report the incident to the family.
Baba said some villagers mobilised to the farm and took her to a clinic in the neighbouring Kwaku village, where she was confirmed dead.
Her remains were reportedly buried on Sunday after her husband returned from a trip. [Daily Trust]
