One Mrs Ayodeni Aluko, 49, was on Tuesday, arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan over an alleged defamatory publication.

Aluko, whose address was not provided was charged with defamatory publication, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Femi Omilana told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 23, at Erunmu area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully published false news on social media that one Elder Wole Oyelese was claiming ownership of her land.
He said the defendant also published that Oyelese was intimidating her with the intent to forcefully take ownership of the said land.
Omilana said the offence contravenes the provisions of Sections 59(1), 375 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.
She held that one of the sureties must be a cleric in a registered religious establishment and adjourned the case until Sept. 18, for hearing.
