Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has slammer Rivers State governor, Simi Fubara, over Rivers crisis, describing his letter on budget representation to members of the state’s House of Assembly as “useless”.

Wike spoke on the matter on Wednesday in Abuja during a media chat.

Rivers’ Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule had given the governor a 48-hour ultimatum to represent the 2025 budget.

Amaewhule’s ultimatum followed a Supreme Court’s judgement delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, in which the apex court ordered the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who are loyal to the FCT minister to resume their duties immediately.

Reacting to Fubara’s letter to the state lawmakers, Wike, who was the immediate past governor of Rivers State, alleged that his successor was not sincere with his pursuit of peace in Rivers State.

According to him, Fubara needed to create a good relationship with the state legislature instead of playing to the gallery.

“Letter to the Rivers House of Assembly is useless; he’s playing to the gallery,” Wike said.
