Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the people of Rivers State do not need a sitting governor to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Wike made the remark on Saturday in Port Harcourt during the commissioning of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters, which houses Majority FM 89.5, a situation room, office facilities and operational vehicles.

Commending the group’s coordinator, Desmond Akawor, for his grassroots mobilisation efforts, the former Rivers governor expressed confidence that the state would strongly back Tinubu’s second-term bid.

“Desmond Akawor, you have shown enough capacity to mobilise. You have moved to all the nooks and crannies of Rivers to talk about Tinubu for President in 2027,” Wike said.

He described Rivers as fully committed to the president’s political future, insisting that the state had already demonstrated its readiness by inaugurating coordinators across all 23 local government areas.

“I have said before that Rivers State is a no-go area, and I want to repeat that this state is totally for Tinubu,” he said.

“Our commitment is not by mouth or by newspaper headlines; we show it through action.”

Wike stressed that the state’s political structure was strong enough to mobilise independently, noting that elected officials and party leaders across the APC and PDP were already aligned in support of the president.

“We don’t need to have a governor to mobilise for Mr President.

“We have senators, assembly members, council chairmen, National Assembly members and party chairmen. We have what it takes to stand on our own,” he added.

He urged the group to extend its mobilisation efforts to ward and unit levels, describing the movement as “battle ready” ahead of the next election cycle.

Earlier, Akawor welcomed the minister and praised his leadership of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative.

He disclosed that coordinators had been appointed across all local governments in the state to strengthen grassroots engagement.
