FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has condemned the alleged illegal occupation of government land in Abuja’s Gaduwa District by soldiers reportedly acting on the orders of a former Chief of Naval Staff.

Wike, who visited the site on Tuesday, said the troops had chased away FCTA officials enforcing a stop-work directive.

He described the action as “lawless and unacceptable,” warning that no one would use military power to intimidate the government.

“I will not succumb to blackmail or intimidation. Abuja is not a jungle,” Wike said, adding that no valid land or building documents were presented by those on site.

The minister said he had spoken with the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Naval Staff to address the matter, vowing that the FCTA would reclaim all encroached lands regardless of who is involved.
