Why Labour Party should be wary of Mr Maduka Okoro, By Sam Ogbonna

I was not only disturbed but perplexed when I listened to Maduka Okoro’s babble and vituperations during his appearance on a programne of a Radio Station in Umuahia on Tuesday, the 6th day of January, 2026, where he spoke like a frustrated person and made infantile comments to paint black All Progressives Congress (APC) and one of the Leaders of the party in the State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu .

Ordinarily, I would have ignored the ranting of Maduka Okoro who appends “Doctor” as a prefix since I am not a media aide nor spokesperson to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, but because I listened to the programme and know how far Maduka Okoro has come with OUK, I am constrained to respond to his tantrums that were not necessary.

Let it be known that Maduka Okoro is not a Doctor of Philosophy holder and should refrain forthwith from using such mendacious appellation. I challenge Maduka Okoro to make public his academic doctorate degree for people to see. Maduka Okoro who finished his secondary school at Evangel High School, Umuahia, travelled abroad for reasons best known to him, only to return to Nigeria empty handed and became an errand boy to Orji Uzor Kalu who was the Executive Governor of Abia State from 1999 to 2003.

Maduka Okoro has been on the payroll of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu all these years and the Distinguished Senator has been bankrolling his bills including payment of his children school fees and accommodation in Umuahia and wonder why such a man should still be paying house rent as a tenant.

Maduka Okoro was the Spokesperson of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and could go to any length to attack anyone that dared to make any negative comment about his paymaster. He was even seen as a ferocious spokesperson and appeared in almost all radio station programmes to defend Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Can Maduka Okoro tell the people of Abia State the honest truth why he left OUK to be a member of Abia Arise and, by extension,a member of Labour Party? Can Mr Maduka Okoro tell the world who was responsible for the payment of his former apartment and the imbroglio that ensued because of his insincerity?

I was further perplexed when Maduka Okoro during the said programme arrogantly said that he would expose APC and wonder if this drowning acclaimed politician who runs a beer parlor in Umuahia had ever held any tangible position in APC either in his Ward, State or National. He has never been the spokesperson of the Party and wonder what he thinks he can say about APC or even Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. Why did it take Mr. Maduka Okoro more than two decades to realise that Legislators in Abuja should not ascertain what transpires in their various local governments? How can any rational being think from that perspective?

Now that Maduka Okoro has found succour in his new pro-group and Party, can’t he concentrate on how to make his daily bread since he has failed to establish himself without decimating a place he , out of frustration, left a couple of months? If Maduka Okoro could have the temerity to speak in such a sarcastic manner against a Party he belonged to prior to now and someone he has been with since 1999, how safe are the members of Abia Arise and LP? Your best friend today can be your worst enemy tomorrow. Even when the Anchor of the programme was trying to be diplomatic so that Maduka wouldn’t expose his folly, he persisted and wondered why such a person with double standard could be seen as reliable confidant.

There’s no doubt that Maduka Okoro has oratory prowess, but one should not trust or rely on anyone who could throw caution and dignity to the wind. I enjoin Mr Maduka Okoro to look for his stomach infrastructure rather than to engage in melancholy and public odium.

A WORD IS SUFFICIENT FOR THE WISE
