The national leadership of the New Democratic Congress, NDC, met last night with a delegation of the *Kwankwasiya movement* in Abuja to resolve internal disputes between the movement and legacy officials of the party in Kano State.
The closed-door meeting was chaired by NDC national leader His Excellency Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and top NDC officials.
–Mediation, not imposition–
In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director, Esq, the party said Senator Dickson and NDC leadership are mediating “in order to enhance inclusion and participation by every party member.”

“The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State, and indeed across the nation, as the party cherishes the virtues of internal democracy,” the statement read.
The meeting, which lasted several hours, was described as “productive.”
–Fake results warning–
NDC also denied reports of released primary results, stressing that no official results have been announced in any state.
“The NDC has not released any official results of its primary elections in any state. Hence, the public and party members are urged to disregard any such list in circulation,” Osa Director said.
–Context: Kwankwasiya vs legacy officials–
The Kwankwasiya movement, loyal to former Kano governor *Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso*, has been in dispute with legacy NDC officials in Kano over control of party structures and candidate selection ahead of 2027. The meeting signals NDC’s attempt to unify both factions before INEC’s June 26 deadline for candidate nomination portal access.
–What’s next–
With INEC set to issue nomination access codes on June 26, 2026, NDC says it will conduct primaries under internal democracy without imposition. All members are expected to await official communication from the national secretariat.
