The Vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, has sought for guidance and support of the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd.), and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), towards rebuilding Nigeria.
Shettima, who spoke after meeting the two former leaders, separately behind closed doors in Minna, Niger State capital, on Thursday, said that the visit was to check on them to mark Ramadan fasting.
Speaking to journalists, the vice-president-elect said that the elder statesmen, as stakeholders, had a lot to offer to humanity and the nation, especially on issues that affect the nation.
“Stakeholders are beacon of hope and will continue to tap from their wealth of experience. They have a lot to offer the nation and humanity.
“We will continue to reach out to them for their advice, input, and perspectives on issues confronting us as a nation,” he said.
Shetima also visited the Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, where he assured the state of a new lease of life in the next administration.
