The Nigeria Police said two officers had been arrested for dehumanizing treatment of a female citizen as shown in a viral video on Wednesday, 22nd July, 2020.
Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, DCP Frank Mba, said 3 police officers and 1 civilian accomplice who participated in the unprofessional act were identified
He added that ASP Tijani Olatunji and Inspector Gboyega Oyeniyi had been arrested for their role in the discreditable conduct and incivility to a member of the public
Mba further stated that they were currently being detained at the Lagos State CID detention facility, Panti, Yaba.
He said preliminary investigations showed that the policemen who were attached Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos, were on legitimate investigation activities to Ibadan, Oyo State where the incident took place.
Mba said effort was being intensified to arrest the two other accomplices.
He said appropriate disciplinary procedure would be initiated as soon as investigations were concluded.
