The first indigenous broadcaster from Ekiti State, Christianah Ademulegun, also known as ‘Eye Opitan,’ is dead.
She was aged 74.
Ademulegun was well known for her deep knowledge of the history of Ekiti towns and their traditional cognomen- ‘Oriki.’
Her son, Femi Ademulegun, confirmed her passing in a statement.
According to him, the veteran broadcaster died early Thursday morning in a brief illness.
Christianah Ademulegun worked with the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State before retiring.
After retirement, she also worked as a consultant for some private radio stations in the state.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
