[ PRESS RELEASE] The Management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, wishes to categorically refute the misleading narratives and unfounded allegations contained in recent write-ups titled “AAU on the Verge of Crisis as Management Dares Governing Council, Visitor” and “AAU in Crisis: How a Controversial VC Appointment Derailed Governance and Plunged Ekpoma into Chaos.”

These publications are replete with distortions, falsehood, and deliberate misrepresentations aimed at tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the University and its leadership.
Contrary to the claims presented, the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor followed due process as stipulated by relevant laws and guidelines governing university administration in Nigeria.

The process was conducted with transparency and in strict adherence to statutory provisions, and the eventual outcome reflected the decision of appropriate authorities vested with such responsibility. Any suggestion to the contrary is both inaccurate and misleading.

Since assumption of office, the Vice-Chancellor has demonstrated unwavering commitment to restoring stability, improving academic standards, and repositioning the University for excellence. Under her leadership, the institution has witnessed significant strides in infrastructure development, accreditation of programmes, and strengthening of administrative processes geared towards efficiency and accountability.

The allegation that the University Management has acted in defiance of the Governing Council or the Visitor is entirely false. At no point has the administration engaged in acts of insubordination. Rather, Management has consistently maintained a posture of respect for constituted authority while ensuring that decisions taken are in the best interest of the University community and aligned with extant regulations.

It is important to state that the challenges being experienced within the University are neither new nor peculiar to the current administration. However, the present leadership has approached these issues with courage, transparency, and a firm resolve to implement sustainable solutions, even in the face of resistance from entrenched interests uncomfortable with reform.

The attempt to personalize institutional issues and frame them as a failure of leadership is not only unfair but also counterproductive. The Vice-Chancellor remains focused on her mandate and continues to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including staff, students, alumni, and government, to ensure that the University fulfills its core mission of teaching, research, and community service.

We therefore urge the public and the media to disregard the sensational claims contained in the said publications and to seek clarification from official channels before drawing conclusions. The University remains open to constructive engagement and is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, remains a citadel of learning with a proud history and a promising future. The Management reassures all stakeholders of its dedication to peace, progress, and institutional excellence, and calls for continued support in building a stronger and more resilient University.
