The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party, CP-PDP, has ordered the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction to “immediately vacate” the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat of the PDP or face “legitimate force”.
In a statement signed by National Coordinator Barr. Obinna Nwachukwu on June 7, 2026, the group said the ultimatum follows the Court of Appeal judgment in Appeal No. CA/IB/M.90/2026 delivered by Justice Uchechukwu.
According to CP-PDP, the judgment “effectively stripped the recalcitrant elements of any legally recognizable authority, exposing their continued occupation of the party’s office as a brazen act of lawlessness, trespass, and political imposture”.
*Court ruling on legal authority*
CP-PDP said the Court of Appeal resolved a Notice of Objection to the appearance of Dapo Durosaro, Esq. for the PDP and Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum. The core issue was whether A.K. Ajibade, SAN, remained National Legal Adviser with power to brief external lawyers.
The group listed 3 key findings from the judgment:
*1. Loss of constitutional powers*: The Court affirmed that upon suspension of A.K. Ajibade, SAN, on Nov 1, 2025, he “completely lost all authority conferred on him by the PDP Constitution”. The Court ruled: “Any exercise of the power conferred on a party official by the party’s constitution, while a suspension subsists, is an exercise in futility.”
*2. Legitimacy of NWC’s actions*: The Court validated the 608th National Working Committee decision directing the National Directorate of Legal Services to take over the office and brief Dapo Durosaro, Esq. to represent the Party and National Chairman.
*3. Expiration of tenure*: The Court noted Ajibade’s suspension ended after one month, but his tenure expired in Dec 2025. Dismissing claims of re-election, the Court refused to “embark on a voyage of speculation”, stating Ajibade could not have issued valid letters to J.A. Mumini, SAN, or B.R. Gold, SAN.
CP-PDP added that the Court declared the “so-called National Convention of March 29, 2026” by the Mohammed group a nullity. Quoting the judgment: “While I agree that the suspension of A.K. Ajibade, SAN, elapsed after one month from November 1, 2025, his tenure of office nevertheless expired in December 2025… The Objector… deposed that A.K. Ajibade, SAN, was re-elected, without stating when, where, and by whom.”
*Supreme Court judgment clarified*
The group said the Court of Appeal also clarified that Supreme Court judgment in SC/CV/166/2026 did not nullify the NWC’s Nov 2025 resolutions. CP-PDP argued the nullification of the Party’s Convention did not equal affirmation of Ajibade’s expired authority.
*“Wadata Plaza is not a den for squatters”*
“By virtue of this judgment, the legal architecture supporting the elements currently claiming leadership roles through expired or unverified tenures has totally collapsed,” the statement read.
“Abdulrahman Mohammed and his cohorts are operating completely outside the ambit of the PDP Constitution and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Wadata Plaza is not a den for squatters.”
*Call for police, DSS action*
CP-PDP said it would “no longer fold its arms and watch political interlopers hold the national secretariat hostage”. It called on the Inspector General of Police and DSS to “immediately step in, enforce the spirit of this judicial reality, and clear Wadata Plaza of these illegal occupants who pose a threat to public peace and political stability”.
“The Court of Appeal has spoken. The NWC’s directives stand, the legal representations stand, and the era of using expired mandates to subvert the PDP is officially over,” Nwachukwu concluded.
