The Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Bradley Cooper, has presented a detailed report on the progress of Operation “Epic Fury” targeting Iran.
In a video message on Tuesday, the CENTCOM Commander disclosed that over 50,000 troops, 200 fighter aircraft, and two aircraft carriers are taking part in the joint operation, now in its fourth day.
Cooper described the scope of the offensive, stating that US and Israeli forces have struck nearly 2,000 targets across Iran using more than 2,000 munitions since the campaign began.
According to him, more than 200 fighter jets and strategic bombers — including Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, Rockwell B-1 Lancer and Boeing B-52 Stratofortress aircraft — carried out airstrikes on deeply buried Iranian missile facilities and command centers.
“We are also sinking the Iranian Navy, the entire navy. Thus far, we’ve destroyed 17 Iranian ships,” he declared
However, the CENTCOM chief acknowledged that Iran has launched large-scale retaliatory attacks, firing over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones targeting Israel and Gulf states hosting US assets.
Despite this, Cooper claimed that “Iran’s ability to strike US forces and allies is declining as the campaign continues.”
The escalating tensions began since the US and Israel launched large-scale attacks on Iran on Saturday, killing nearly 800 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top military officials.
Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries, which are home to US military assets.
CENTCOM confirmed that six US service members were killed and several others wounded in an Iranian strike on a tactical operations center in Kuwait during the operation.
The conflict shows no signs of de-escalation as the US continues to openly target the Iranian navy and launch thousands of strikes, while Iran retaliates with barrages of missiles and drones. [Eagle Online]
