Local police chief in Ahmedabad says 204 bodies have been recovered from the site of the crash of Air India Flight 171.
The flight crashed shortly after takeoff from the Indian city, carrying at least 242 people.
The airline said in a statement that the plane carried 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian and seven Portuguese.
Authorities in London confirmed that the plane was due to land at the city’s Gatwick Airport at 6:25pm local time (17:25GMT).

ANI news agency reports that at least 90 emergency response workers are deployed in the site of the crash.
