The identity of the woman crushed in Abuja by a Kaduna-bound train has been disclosed.
She was Selimota Idowu Suleiman who, until her death, was an official of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Selimota Idowu Suleiman was crushed at the Chikakore axis of Kubwa in Abuja.
Reports said that the deceased, an NTA Channel 5 Abuja official, was on her way to the office when she was crushed by the train.
Speaking on the incident, the Chairman, Chikakore Community Zone-E, Ismail Olakposoyosi, said the train rammed into Suleiman, who was inside her car.
Olakposoyosi stated that the officers of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency and National Emergency Management Agency lifted the train before they could bring out the damaged car and her corpse.
“As she got to the train tracks, that was when she saw the train coming. Most times, the train will not even give adequate notice, it will not horn; sometimes when it horns, it will be when it is close to the community; that was how the incident happened.
“She was caught unawares at the rail tracks and the train dragged her vehicle with her inside some kilometres before it stopped.
“It was when NEMA, FERMA and some other government authorities came that they were able to lift the train and remove the vehicle and the corpse,” he disclosed.
The incident was further confirmed by the FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who said that investigations were ongoing.
Until her death, Suleiman was a Principal Accountant with the Finance Department, NTA.
