UPDATE: SGF’s office washes hands off money laundering, bribery allegation against staff member

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) said it was not a party to ongoing corruption allegation and investigation involving one of its officials, Mr Andrew Torhile Uchi.

Uchi is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged misconduct including bribery and money laundering to the tune of N10 billion.

In a statement on Monday, OSGF’s Director of Information, Segun Imohiosen, said the leadership of the office was not involved in the alleged misconduct for which Uchi was being interrogated by the anti-graft agency.

The office reiterated its longstanding commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in all official dealings.

The statement said: “The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation is not in any way connected to the allegations against Mr Andrew Torhile Uchi.

“We remain steadfast in our adherence to the principles of good governance and ethical conduct.”

The statement also acknowledged the EFCC’s efforts in investigating the matter and in ensuring that those found culpable were brought to justice.

It urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the investigative process to run its course.

The office stated: “We recognise and support the work of the EFCC in upholding the rule of law. However, we appeal to the public to refrain from drawing premature conclusions as the investigation is still ongoing.”

It commended members of the public for their understanding and support, assuring Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity in government operations.
