University of Abuja Teaching Hospital renames trauma centre after Aisha Buhari

The Board and Management of University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) Gwagwalada have unveiled the trauma centre renamed after Nigeria’s first Lady, Dr Aisha Buhari.

The renovated and furnished building carried out by Nigeria’s First Lady was recovered from a public private partnership (PPP) arrangement.

During the inauguration on Wednesday, December 14, in Gwagwalada, Mrs Buhari’s gesture was lauded by the Board and Management of the hospital.

The Board Chairman, Dr Sam Sam Jaja recalled the visit of Nigeria’s first Lady during the inauguration of an Endocrine centre built, donated and inaugurated by Sustainable Development Goals SDGs in Nigeria last year in the hospital.

He said the kind gesture by Mrs Buhari had contributed to the provision of health care services to patients in the hospital among many other demands.

Dr Mrs Aisha Buhari had promised during the last visit to renovate and furnish the edifice, a promise she fulfilled after a year.

The Chief Medical Director, CMD, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital UATH, Professor Bissala Ekele said Mrs Buhari’s contributions to the hospital were innumerable, having facilitated the construction of a world class centre in the hospital. He said she again fulfilled her promise on the new centre, not long after.

He prayed for more wisdom for the Nigeria’s first Lady, Mrs Buhari to continue to help the downtrodden in the society through her health intervention programmes.
